Welcome to Beech Class!

Each week the children bring home a list of spellings. Try to practice them as much as you can. Please remember to bring spelling books in alongside reading books and reading records daily.

The spellings for Year 1 are: chip, chick, catch, fetch, kitchen, notch, hutch, rich, much, such.

The spellings for Year 2 are: gem, giant, magic, giraffe, energy, jacket, jar, jog, join, adjust.

In phonics this week Year 1 have practiced the sounds: wh (when), ph (phonics), ue (statue), oe (toe), au (launch) and ey (donkey). And the tricky words said, so, have and like.

In phonics next week we will focus on split digraphs including: i_e (hike), o_e (cone), a_e (make), u_e (cube) and e_e (extreme). We will learn the tricky words: come, were, there and some.
